Take your drawing skills to the next level in this six-week course designed for teens who want to become more confident and creative artists. Explore different drawing styles and learn practical techniques for creating believable characters, animals, and
environments—whether you’re drawing from observation or bringing your own stories and ideas to life.
All supplies are included in the total cost of this workshop. A maximum of 6 kids per course.
Session 1 - September 27: Realism vs stylized
We’ll look at different type of drawing styles, from realistic to cartoon/anime, and break
down how the artists were able to create their finished art.
Session 2 - October 4th: Shading
Learn how light and shadows work to create more believable three-dimensional objects.
Session 3 - October 11th: Perspective
If you want anything to look three-dimensional, you need to understand basic perspective. This is particularly helpful for creating believable scenes for any stories you might want to tell.
October 18th - 1-week break (no class)
Session 4 - October 25th: Animals
Learn how to break down the shapes within an animal to make drawing them from any
angle easier.
Session 5 - November 1st: People
Understand the basic anatomy of people so that you can draw more realistic characters.
Session 6 - November 8th: Environments
Discover how to create an interesting scene. Where to put the details and what can be
left loose. Hint, you don’t need to draw every leaf on a tree.
Blank Canvas requires a minimum of 3 students per course; if we cannot meet that minimum, the course will be cancelled and students will be refunded or issued a store credit. Notice for any cancellations will be sent via email one day before the first class date.
Note to Parents about Blank Canvas: We prioritize "process over perfection," focusing on building a creative toolkit that will serve young artists for a lifetime.
