Kids Beginner Drawing Course - 6 Weeks - Fall Term

For ages 8-11 years old

Dates: Sundays, September 27, October 4, 11, 25, November 1 & 8th
Time: 2:15-3:30pm
Location: Blank Canvas Art Supplies, Confederation Court Mall
An intake form will be emailed to you before classes begin. If you do not receive it, please reach out to us as it must be filled out for every child before the first class.

In this fun, hands-on drawing class, young artists will explore different ways to bring
their ideas to life. From creating realistic and cartoon drawings to designing imaginative
creatures and building worlds for them to live in, each lesson introduces new skills while encouraging creativity, experimentation, and personal expression. Kids will learn how to use shapes, references, imagination, and simple drawing techniques to create artwork that is uniquely their own.

All supplies are included in the total cost of this workshop. A maximum of 6 kids per course.

Session 1 - September 27: Realism vs stylized
Learn how using different drawing techniques can create either a fun cartoony image or a more realistic drawing.

Session 2 - October 4th: Drawing from imagination
Drawing from imagination is hard! Not because you don’t have an imagination, but
because you’re relying on your memory to recreate something you’ve already seen.
Practice working from both a reference and creating from your memories to create fun,
original drawings.

Session 3 - October 11th: Shapes
Want to be able to draw anything from any angle? It all starts with understanding the
shapes that make up that object and how they overlap.

October 18th - 1-week break (no class)

Session 4 - October 25th: Change an image
Take a piece of art and make it your own by adding or erasing elements to make it
uniquely your own.

Session 5 - November 1st: Creating creatures
Try drawing a brand-new monster by mixing and matching different limbs and body
parts from real animals.

Session 6 - November 8th: Landscapes
Time to build a world for the creature you created. Using familiar elements such as
buildings, weather and more, mix them together in a creative way to create a scene for
your creation to live within.

Blank Canvas requires a minimum of 3 students per course; if we cannot meet that minimum, the course will be canceled and students will be refunded or issued a store credit. Notice for any cancelations will be sent via email by noon of the class date.

Blank Canvas Art Supplies does not issue refunds for workshops and classes. If you are unable to attend an event which you have registered for, we are happy to issue a store credit. Store credit can be used in-store and online for supplies and future classes.
