Conté à Paris Sketching Crayons are very soft to apply and made from natural pigments (iron oxides, carbon black, titanium dioxide), clay (kaolin) and a binder (cellulose ether).
Conte crayons are great for sketching and underdrawing because they don't smudge as easily as charcoal. They can be blended with your finger, stomps or with water. Conte is especially nice when used on toned papers, offering high contrast highlights and deep shadows.
