Bookbinding Workshop: Coptic Stitch Notebook - Sunday, October 18th 1-4:30pm

In this 3.5-hour workshop, you will create a custom hardcover notebook from scratch. Start by choosing from a selection of hand printed Japanese paper for your cover, then folding and preparing your pages for stitching. You will learn the classic and decorative coptic stitch—a sewing technique that creates an exposed spine and lets your book lie completely flat when open. With step-by-step guidance throughout the entire process, you will leave with a personalized, handmade notebook and the skills to making your own books.

All materials are included in the cost of this class, students will take home their finished notebook, an awl and 4" bone folder. If interested, students may purchase any other bookbinding tools used during the workshop and receive a 10% discount at the end of the class.

Blank Canvas requires a minimum of 3 students per class; if we cannot meet that minimum, the class will be canceled and students will be refunded or issued a store credit. Notice for any cancelations will be sent via email by noon of the class date.
