July 13th: Egg Carton Habitats (Instructor: Dave + studio assistant)
Children will give new life to old egg cartons by transforming them into tiny, multi-room homes for animals, magical creatures, or fairies. Using paint, pom-poms, and natural elements like twigs and moss, they will decorate each compartment to represent a unique room or a wild outdoor habitat. To complete their project, participants will also create a set of "Inhabitant Cards" featuring hand-drawn pictures and descriptions of the special characters that live inside their recycled creation.

July 14th: Long-Legged Lovable Creatures (Instructor: Beth + studio assistant)
This introductory sewing workshop teaches children how to assemble their own whimsical, floppy-limbed stuffed animals using a variety of colorful fabric scraps. Participants will select different patterns and textures to piece together the long, dangling legs and soft bodies of a creature of their own design. By learning how to connect these "patchwork" parts and add personality with button eyes or felt features, to these huggable companions. *students will be using semi-blunt tipped needles.

July 15th: Picture Book Illustration & Bookbinding (Instructor: Beth + studio assistant)
In this workshop, kids become both authors and artists as they plan a "beginning, middle, and end" for their very own tales. After coming up with a story, students will use markers and colour pencils to bring their characters to life on each page. The last step will be learning basic bookbinding by using safe plastic needles and colorful yarn to stitch their pages together.

July 16th: Modelling Clay & Mixed-Media Sculpture (Instructor: Dave + studio assistant)
This hands-on workshop invites children to poke, roll, and squish clay into imaginative 3D forms, ranging from abstract shapes to recognizable creatures and figures. After mastering basic techniques like "snakes" (coils) and "pancakes" (slabs), students will strengthen and expand their sculptures using mixed-media materials like popsicle sticks and wire armatures. By combining these structural elements with clay surfaces stamped with intricate textures, participants will learn how to build height and detail into their original three-dimensional masterpieces.

July 17th: Felt Puppets & Mini Stage Props (Instructor: Beth + studio assitant)
Using colourful felt sheets, children will design, cut, and assemble their own original hand puppets. They will learn how to layer shapes to create expressive faces and detailed outfits, using glue and embellishments to give each character a unique personality. To bring their stories to life, participants will also craft a set of miniature felt props—such as tiny hats, magic wands, or snacks—that their puppets can "hold" during a final group performance.
